  PRIME WHITE ASH:
  Fraxinus america
  
  After maple, ash is the palest timber we offer. It is creamy white with a strong deep grain. It is hard wearing and lends itself to modern interiors.
  Our prime grade ash is selected for light colour with minimum variagation. The boards have a lovely consistent smooth white colour which is almost too perfect for flooring (almost).

  Acer saccharum
  
  Canadian Rock Maple is the palest timber we offer. It is creamy white with a pinkish grain.
  It is very hard wearing and lends itself to modern interiors.
  We offer two grades: Prime and Natural: Natural grade allows more colour variation and mineral markings.

  Chauncey's kiln dried extra-wide Douglas Fir boards are superb in regular 285mm (11.25") wide widths produced from locally grown 70% (min) FSC timber. Using only timber harvested from sustainably managed forests in Dorset, we are helping to keep board miles to a minimum. Machined to a generous 28mm thick, and long lengths, these boards are nice and stable. They are machined with square edges, so are suitable for traditional flooring, shelving or joinery.

  PRIME AMERICAN CHERRY:
  Prunus serotina
  
  A really beautifully figured timber. This American black cherry has a beautifully warm golden pink hue with subtle grain patterns.

  Not a very hardwearing timber. Suitable for areas of low traffic such as bedrooms etc.

  Quercus alba
  
  A hardwearing timber which produces a tough longlasting floor. The timber is close grained with some minor colour variations. This type of oak can lend itself to modern interiors. We produce White Oak in two different widths:

  Our American oak flooring is sourced from sustainably managed forestry in the northern Appelacian area of North America. Some of the American Oak that we use to produce this flooring is FSC certified timber. Please ask if you want the FSC stock.

  Jatoba flooring has a rich red brown colour with a strong grain pattern with a golden lustre. Boarding comes from Central America and is very hardwearing:

  ENGLISH TIGER OAK.

  ENGLISH TIGER OAK is the same as Brown but is part brown and part standard oak where the brown oak fades away in 'flames' or 'tiger stripes'. Produces an interesting and unusual floor. Specification - as for brown oak.

  ENGLISH BROWN OAK.

  Brown Oak is something a bit special. This oak comes from a very few English or European oak trees in which the timber in the trunk of the tree is coloured by a naturally occuring fungus. This does not degrade the wood in any way except to turn the heartwood a rich deep brown colour which goes right through the boards.

  Boards are fumed after machining to produce surface colour. Available on Solid Continental Oak range and Tectonic boards

  Steamed prior to kilning, the steamed oak takes on a full brown colour throughout the thickness of the board emphasizing the grain of the boards.

  FULL THICKNESS CARAMEL BAKED OAK:.

  Baked to 180^oC, the baked oak takes on a rich brown colour throughout the thickness of the board. The process changes the cell structure of the timber making it more stable in areas of higher humidity variation such as bathrooms.
